Tiana Williams – Secretary
I am a sibling, Empowerment and trauma informed coach who serves as a disability advocate, human rights chair who reviews behavior plans to ensure that it doesn’t infringe on the rights of people with disabilities and Down Syndrome ambassador working to change public policies that affect individuals with disabilities. I have been a member of the NADS board since 2020 and secretary since 2022.
I became involved with NADS many years because of my sister, Tinesha who was a self-advocate. Through our involvement with various organizations, we found that families needed help finding resources so that has become my focus. Unfortunately, Tinesha has since passed; however, I continue to help individuals with disabilities in her honor. I particularly love to help families who experience grief and siblings who are looking for guidance or just looking to connect with people who have similar experiences. I love working to make a difference in the lives of people, especially our most vulnerable population. My overall goal is to change policies and empower change in societal perceptions of individuals with Down Syndrome and other abilities.
