Linda Smarto – Executive Director
Linda is the proud wife and mother of three daughters. She began volunteering with NADS 25 years ago, soon after her oldest daughter, Julia, was born with Down syndrome. Linda served as a Support Parent, Parent Public Speaker and joined the staff of NADS in 2010. Over the years, she has offered comfort and support to an untold number of families in the Down syndrome community, while providing outreach and education to thousands of parents, professionals, students and caretakers. Linda is a passionate advocate for the Down syndrome community and is committed to continually enhancing NADS’ programming to better serve individuals with Down syndrome and their families.
Thank you very much to our Board of Directors and the Down syndrome community for entrusting me with the position of Executive Director. I am truly honored and excited to navigate this wonderful organization as we enter our 60th year of services. Together, we can make changes, promote awareness, encourage advocacy, and enforce our mission: “To ensure that all persons with Down syndrome have the opportunity to achieve their full potential in all aspects of community life”.
Looking ahead, it is my hope that NADS serves as a beacon of strength in creating lifelong friendships, ongoing support and community partnerships.
I look forward to continuing my work by following the generations of expertise and knowledge in forming the legacy and reputation that NADS has earned.
