Heather Bernal-Director

Heather is a dedicated litigation paralegal at Sterk Family Law Group in Orland Park, Illinois. Outside of her professional career, Heather proudly embraces her most important role, being Mom to Baby Charleigh. Heather and her husband, Alex, welcomed Charleigh into the world in December 2024. During pregnancy, they learned there was a high probability that Charleigh would be born with Trisomy 21.

Following Charleigh’s birth and diagnosis, Heather and her family received a welcome basket from NADS. A heartfelt gesture that brought comfort, encouragement, and a deep sense of community. The experience, along with the continued support from NADS, left a lasting impact on Heather. Grateful for the resources and compassion her family received, Heather felt a strong calling to give back.

Now serving on the NADS Board of Directors, Heather combines her personal journey with her professional experience to advocate for other families and help ensure they feel just as supported and embraced as hers did.
