Tips and Tricks!!
How to Raise Money
for the NADS Bowl-A-Thon
1. How to raise $75.00 in just ONE week? Really, it CAN be done:
Day 1: Register via online registration site (firstgiving) and create your own personal fundraising page. TIP: Make your fundraising page fun, personal and interesting!! Remember lots of people will be looking at your page!
Day 2: Ask your best friend or significant other for $15.00! Really, they both probably owe you the money anyway.
Day 3: Ask a relative for $10.00. It will work, even though you probably owe them some money! Never hurts to ask family for a great cause!
Day 4: Ask two friends for $5.00 each. Let them know that they do not need their soy latte or frappaccino from Starbucks that day and the money could be better served by donating to the bowl-a-thon!
Day 5: Ask two co-workers or teachers for $10.00 each. Asking your child's teacher is a great idea- have your child take a handwritten note to school asking for a donation to the bowl-a-thon. A teacher can never turn down a child with a note from home, right?
Day 6: Ask two neighbors for $5.00 each. Hopefully, you are friends with your neighbors!
Day 7: Your personal contribution of $10.00 and celebrate your accomplishment... In just one week you received a total of $75.00!! Congratulations and keep up the great work!
2. Want to try to raise MORE money?? How about a goal of $200:
- Bring your lunch to work one or two days a week- $25.00
- Ask two family members for $20.00- $40.00
- Ask four friends to contribute $5.00 each (have several friends over for dinner and ask all at once)- $20.00
- Ask your hairdresser, dry cleaner or doctor (ask them to put a donation jar in the office/shop)-$25.00
- Ask your church or temple members(have a request placed in the bulletin for a one-time offering)- $25.00
- Ask four coworkers to donate $5.00 each (Display a donation bucket in your place of business)- $20.00
- Ask someone from your book club, your athletic club or athletic team- $25.00
- Ask four neighbors for $5.00 each- $20.00 Guess what? You just raised an additional $200.00!! Congratulations, great job!
3. If you have a Facebook profile, add the fundraising application and promote your efforts through your Facebook page.
4. If you are on Twitter, tweet a message to your friends. Challenge them to join you or support you!
5. Set up your email signature with a link to your online fundraising page.
Include a message such as, "Come Bowl your hearts out at the 25th annual NADS fundraising event!" (clearly, you need to create a real message for all to use- just an example)
6. Email, send out postcards with a fun reminder about the Bowl-A-Thon and get creative!!
7. Does your Company Match Funds?
This is one way to raise even more money for the Bowl-A-Thon! Check to see if your company or organization matches funds that you raise. In many cases, a company match can put your fundraising goal over the top!
